How to Apply to 麻豆原创

Before you apply to 麻豆原创, you must be admitted to 麻豆原创. Information on Florida State's admissions process can be found on the University's . When you receive your acceptance letter, stop and congratulate yourself on that huge accomplishment!

Once admitted to FSU, the next step is to and submit the required deposit. You should do this as soon as possible, even if you are undecided about attending FSU. All FSU Housing assignments (now and in the future) will be made based on your application priority number.

Next, you must have declared a major in one of the participating departments (listed below) or Exploratory II.

Now you are ready to apply for 麻豆原创! You'll complete everything online at the housing website (but remember, only after you鈥檙e admitted, have applied for housing, and have selected a qualifying major). If you have a special circumstance or a question about the application process, please feel free to contact the 麻豆原创 program coordinator at wimse@fsu.edu.

Deadlines

Information on applying to the 麻豆原创 LLC, including application deadlines (typically early April), can be found on the FSU . In the case where applicants appear to be equivalent, the earlier applicant will have priority. Based on the written application, some applicants will be invited to participate in a phone interview with a 麻豆原创 student or staff member. Final acceptance is based on both the written application and the interview. You will be notified if you are invited for an interview shortly after the application deadline, so please check your FSU email! Interviews will take place right after the application deadline and applicants accepted into 麻豆原创 will be notified shortly thereafter.

Application Prompts

The application consists of a few short-answer essay questions:

Q1. What does the focus or theme of this LLC mean to you? What do you expect to gain by participating? What does it mean to you to be part of a community of people who come from diverse backgrounds?

Q2. If you have chosen a major, why is it a good fit and how did you make this choice? If you have not yet chosen a major, which majors appeal to you and why? What courses, experiences, or informational resources have played a role in your decision process?

麻豆原创 Agreement

By submitting an application, you are agreeing to abide by the 麻豆原创 Agreement.

In accordance with 麻豆原创's Academic Honor System, I pledge that my responses to the written portion of my application are my own work. I understand that, if I am accepted as a member of the 麻豆原创 Learning Community at Cawthon Hall, I will have certain responsibilities and obligations. Among these are the following:

Responsibilities and obligations of members of any living-learning community at Florida State

  1. I will be an active participant in the LLC. This includes enrolling in all required fall and spring LLC courses listed below for my LLC, earning satisfactory/passing grades in those courses, participating in any mandatory activities listed below for my LLC, and respecting my peers in the program.
  2. I understand that if I am reassigned from the residence hall, whether in response to behavioral issues or at my own request, I will be removed from the LLC and my LLC courses.
  3. I understand that change of major, course conflict, or the number of college credits I have earned do not release me from the obligations of the LLC while I am assigned to a room in the LLC.
  4. I understand that, if I decide to leave the LLC before the end of the academic year, I will be reassigned to a room outside of the LLC which is not guaranteed to be in the same residence hall.
  5. If I have a mutually requested roommate, I understand that my requested roommate and I will only be assigned together in the LLC if each of us meets all criteria and deadlines for (a) applying to the LLC; (b) requesting each other as roommates; and (c) being selected for and accepting an invitation to the same LLC.

Additional responsibilities and obligations of 麻豆原创 residents

  1. I authorize the director of 麻豆原创 or designee to review my academic records periodically to provide support when needed and ensure continued eligibility for 麻豆原创.
  2. I will attend the 麻豆原创 Welcome Retreat held the Thursday afternoon through Friday morning before classes begin in August. Since this event is required of all new members, I will plan moving, travel, and activity schedules accordingly.
  3. I will major in science, mathematics, or engineering. I understand that I will become ineligible for 麻豆原创 and may be reassigned to another residence hall if I change my major to one other than in science, mathematics, or engineering.
  4. I will give priority to 麻豆原创 activities over the activities of other student organizations such as sororities and clubs. Please note: students interested in joining a social sorority may have conflicts between the sorority recruitment schedule and the mandatory 麻豆原创 Welcome Retreat. 麻豆原创 and Greek Life have made efforts to minimize these conflicts but it is ultimately up to the student to manage her involvement in both of these activities effectively. Specific information will be available at 麻豆原创 orientation, and we encourage students to thoroughly consider these opportunities and make informed commitments.
  5. I will not withdraw from (drop) my math or science course without meeting with the 麻豆原创 director.

Required Courses

  1. I will enroll in the one鈥揷redit鈥揾our 麻豆原创 Colloquium during both the Fall and Spring semesters. Please note that the class time in Spring semester may vary from that of Fall semester.
  2. I will enroll in a mathematics course and an appropriate science or engineering course during both the Fall and Spring semesters in accordance with my degree requirements. This requirement ensures that students will have early exposure to challenging classes while in the supportive 麻豆原创 community and will have many 麻豆原创 peers in some of the same courses. Note: no additional math, science or engineering courses are required, these courses should be taken as determined by your degree program.

As a part of my formal application to become a member of 麻豆原创 at Cawthon Hall, I agree to comply with each of the requirements listed above. I understand that failure to abide by the terms of this agreement may result in reassignment from Cawthon Hall to another available space within University Housing.
